David Pugh was born and grew up in West Virginia before his family moved to Kentucky when he was around 12. He came to love bluegrass and traditional country music, and gospel, and included artists such as Hank Williams Sr., Ray Price, and George Jones, and Merle Haggard. At 18 he started playing in local bands and at 24 got his first radio job. He also worked for the US Postal Service for 32 years before retiring.
He started "Mountain Bluegrass" while on the former World Wide Bluegrass station and eventually moved to the Bluegrass Jamboree, where his program includes lots of guests and live interviews, and he presents his Top 12 countdown. He has a great personality and it shines through.
The new "The Kentucky Hayride" program will feature traditional country music like you used to hear in the 60's,70', and 80's. He has a solid background in the golden era of traditional country, and the knowledge to make the show more interesting, as he plays the older country stars you might not hear on radio a lot today.
David is very entertaining and he wants the listeners to be involved, knowing his shows are all about them. He welcomes your emails where you can make requests and dedications for the following week's show. He reads these emails after every show, and will respond to any questions that you might have for him. David also loves to hear your suggestions about things you would like to see added to the programs to make it better for you.
