Matthew Thacker was raised around bluegrass music.
Matthew began playing mandolin at the age of 16, and at the age of 18 he began playing the bass and singing tenor in his brother's band, Ernie Thacker and Route 23.
With Ernie Thacker and Route 23, Matthew traveled extensively throughout the Eastern United States playing music and even played with the group in Europe.
In 2006 Matthew moved back to Ohio where he married the love of his life and decided to go back to school. In 2014 Matthew graduated from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. of Journalism with a specialty in Public Relations.
During this period Matthew Thacker and his brother Ernie Thacker co-hosted the Route 23 Radio Show on the Blog Talk Radio platform. They stopped doing the the show after a couple of years and unfortunately Ernie passed away in 2018.
Matthew Thacker lives in Toledo, Ohio with his wife Jen and their three kids.
Matthew hosts the Route 23 Bluegrass and Classic Country Show which airs on separate radio stations throughout the week and is then uploaded to the Route 23 Radio Show Mixcloud page for anyone to listen for free at anytime.
The Route 23 Show is currently heard on Bell Buckle Radio each Wednesday and Saturday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
